About Me

"There are songwriters, and there are great songwriters, and Jon Batson fits into the second category. He has vocals that make you melt and lyrics that are heartfelt and touch the human soul." gilli moon, International Recording Artist
"Jon Batson sings his songs on his live CD as naturally as he would sing them to you in his den. The songs are clever, articulate and concise." Harriet Schock, Platinum Selling Songwriter
Known for his witty ability to get a point across, Jon has entertained audiences with his songs in the US and Europe and China since the 60’s.
He has sung before the Kennedy family, performed at the prestigious Arts Club of Washington and was televised nation-wide from the National Cathedral. His musical travels have taken him to Spain, Portugal and China, where he performed before the Vice-Premier and did a special performance on the Great Wall itself.
Since moving back to North Carolina he has performed at a variety of venues including the acclaimed Night of Dreams in Raleigh, Festival for the Eno in Durham and the Carrboro Music Festival.
In addition to performing live he’s had five original stage musicals produced in Hollywood, CA and a string of album and CD releases. His first album is collectible in many countries; he is often called upon to serve as a panelist and judge at music conferences and contests.
Jon wrote and recorded the official song for San Jacinto, California and his specialty material has appeared on such shows as The Tonight Show, Make Me Laugh, Midnight Special and Murder She Wrote. His inclusion in Marquis Who’s Who in America® is a testament to his work.
The wisdom imparted to him by Oscar Brown Jr., “To sing your own song and make it something people would enjoy”, are the words he lives by.
Jon’s music is available on CD and vinyl. His book, Songwriter’s Hook Book, a journal-style book for songwriters, is available for purchase online at Amazon.com, lulu.com, CDBaby.com, Borders.com, and locally at select book and music stores.
