About Me

It all started at age twelve. I was learning to play drums from a friend. He was phenomenal at that age. He suggested that I play guitar because we couldnt form a band both playing drums. It just so happened that I got $100 for Christmas that year. I used it to get a guitar and amp combo from J.C. Pennies. It was cheap but hey, it was something to learn on. I had a problem. No one to learn from. So I got books and guitar magazines and started teaching myself. I feel its quite an accomplishment being self taught. After I started getting the hang of it, my friends and I started jamming on our favorite songs. The first song I actually learned was Rock you like a hurricane by the Scorpions. I thought I was the best. I still had a lot to learn. I played every spare minute I had. Learned everything I could. I joined my first band in high school. The name was Flashback. We were ok, but no one wanted to sing. Kind of a drag since all we played was cover tunes. We had a lot of fun playing parties and such. Then I started jamming with different people and joined another band. We were called Strait Up. The singer had all this cool equipment. A full stage setup. We were really good. We played battle of the bands for Contraband Days Festival. We also played the Railroad Festival several times. We were known at high school for playing the Halloween Carnival several years in a row. That was the first band I was in that I got real stage experience. Then after I graduated, I joined the Army and was gone for close to three years. My playing suffered because I didnt have much time to play at all. I bounced back pretty quickly. I started practicing relentlessly. I ended up rejoining some of the members from Strait Up. We were then called Dazed and Confused. I guess because we played every song from the soundtrack. We played gigs here and there. We were really good. We did some recording, just cover stuff, and I wanted to do original music. We just never did. I dont know why. Then we disbanded. Most of us worked so much we didnt have time for much else. We tried to reform a couple of years later minus our bass player. So I switched off with the other guitarist playing bass. We never got it off of the ground. Again, work prevailed. We played a lot of Cream tunes. And other stuff like ZZ Top and Pink Floyd. I loved playing the Rock and Classic Rock. Then I saw the movie Crossroads. I was hooked. I delved into blues. I listened to Gary Moore, Jonny Lang, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Albert Collins, B.B. King and many others. Blues was an outlet for me. Most people think that blues is depressing. I am never happier than when I am playing blues. It just feels right. I still enjoy artists like Joe Satriani and Steve Vai. They were great influences. They can be very bluesy at times also. Then one day, my wife Michelle came home from work and told me that one of her friends husbands played bass in a band and they were looking for a guitarist. So she hooked us up and I joined Copperhead Rd. This band here was different than any band I had ever been in. We had gigs every weekend, practice in between. It was a lot of work, but it was a lot of fun and I got a lot of stage presence. We played a lot of cover tunes, but we had some originals also. We played various bars and Legion halls. In 2004, we entered in the battle of the bands for the Texas B.B.Q. Festival. Out of 26 bands, we were first runner up. Not to bad for a bunch of country boys playing Southern Rock and Blues. We played other gigs and Benefits, and eventually disbanded. I was very frustrated because of my passion for music. So my wife tells me to write and record my own music. She has been my inspiration. She even came up with and name And it begins as a play on words for the start of my own music. I play whats in my heart. I figure if I do that, I cant go wrong. I hope everyone enjoys my music as much as I enjoyed creating it. Peace, Love and Music to everyone.Cheers!center>
