POLO CHAMP, AS REAL AS IT GETS

About Me

Few artistic outlets allow any artist such raw, uninhibited canvas and deep, unrelenting invitation into a person’s soul as does rap. Cleveland’s Polo Champ is one artist who takes advantage of such freedom of expression every time he encounters a microphone, blank page, or a listening ear. With his matter-of-fact, charismatic delivery and intrinsically rhythmic timing, Polo Champ exemplifies how eloquent masterpieces can be birthed from the mind of a true visionary allowed to shine in his own skin. Having written poetry since the age of 8 and rhyming anywhere from friends’ homemade bedroom studios to barbershop audiences, Polo began recording professionally in 2005. Managed by Charles T Productions and June Colon, he has also worked with other musical entities such as DJ Uncut, Skent Dukes, D. App (The Ohio Soundlab), Jim Viza, Sunchild, Buddy Banks Jr., Cha'ron, and Poetic Republic. He is currently sponsored by The Omni Music Group, Popular Promotions, The Elusion Clothing Company, and Fly or Die Entertainment. Polo Champ has worked tirelessly to improve his sound, method, and overall presence in the hip hop game and is finally getting the chance to see his dreams come to fruition. After 2006’s critically acclaimed release, Personal Never Business, Polo Champ continues to grind out diamond imagery and craftsman worthy wordplay to give listeners his lyrical prestige and audible escape on his current release, The Real is Back. Again hosted by DJ Uncut, this project provides track after track of pure creativity and artistry acumen. The lead single,Asshole, is already getting airplay on DJ Sixth Sense's XM Satellite Radio show and is slated for success. On the swagger-saturated Polo Sh$, the Champ proclaims his throne as an innovator in outfits who relishes the real: I’m a target/ in the crosshairs of trill/ I took a shot from what’s live / then I died and went to heaven/ man I need to chill/ but the game overflow/ on the floor let it spill / just send me the bill/my nigga this is me/ I always keep it real/ I sign off on that/ notary stamp seal/ notoriety I get from variety of gear/ I piece by society/ this is my year/ Peace Polo continues his verbal escapade on the two Jay-Z inspired tracks, "Show You How to Do This 2K7" and "Show Me What You Got Part 2." On the inspiring "Feel Inside," Polo Champ reminds us of the times worth celebrating amidst hardship with beat hugging rhymes that move heads and sway bodies. Bad times why you chasing me/ in search of another/ feeling that you get/ like when you hug ya mother/ or they don’t say nigga/ and they call you brother/ every want that you have/ get fulfilled by a lover/ pay day come/ you got leftover funds/ your bills didn’t kill/ got money to chill/ pour your favorite drink out/ ‘til that mo$%^f%$ker spill/ tired of the fake/ you need something that’s real Real is indeed what you get. Bar by bar, album by album, you are drawn closer and closer to the man raised single-handedly by his hardworking mother in Cleveland’s Mount Pleasant area, a.k.a. Kinsman County. Her encouragement for Polo Champ to always chase his dreams and dedicate himself eases through each track. These songs become a creative outlet for Polo’s pain, dealing with such tragedies as the deaths of both his grandmother and his absentee father within a month, the latter with whom he had fortunately made amends. Such events make procuring one’s goals that much more important. For Polo Champ, that means using his gift to inspire others. I feel that deep down in everyone’s soul and spirit, creativity lives. When I speak, you can see the imperfections of the world. I’m the man who puts his heart on his sleeve and puts his all into his music. My message is not some crazy intricate thing. I give creativity through music to the masses for the purpose of giving hope. I try to elevate creativity and art and break it down to the lowest denominator, our everyday lives."
