A LITTLE BIT ABOUT “THE MOONâ€
A collaboration of three people
James Cobb– James’ roots originate in the hills of Ireland where his family farmed the land and was quite well to do. Tragically all was lost during the great potato famine of the mid 1800’s and the family was forced to move . Upon arriving here in the land of opportunity they again took up farming, but found it ever more difficult to make ends meet in the fields. As struggling generations passed, farming took a back seat to a new venture… the making of alcohol. Potato vodka, while popular in Europe was not an especially huge seller back east, so during the time of prohibition, the Cobb family again packed up there belongings and moved to the great state of Texas. A tavern was soon opened after their arrival and not only did the vodka flourish, but they were soon known throughout the region for their most popular item, the Cobb Salad. James and his father later sold both the rights to their vodka and salad for a tidy profit and the family has lived in Texas ever since.
Anthony Trovato- Anthony was born into a fishing family in the Calabria region of southern Italy. As a young lad of ten he dreamed of following in his fathers footsteps by working the boats and taking from the oceans bounty. This dream was not to be. During a summer storm, Anthony’s father was tossed overboard by a freak wave and lost to the sea. Unable to provide for the family, mama Trovato decided to move Anthony and his adopted sister to the United States, where they all worked a small pizza shop in the outskirts of New York City. While the family worked hard and long, they were by no means well off, so when Anthony was afforded an opportunity to work for some of the local businessmen, as they were called, he unfortunately did. Some of the dealings in which these ,so called, businessmen were involved were not completely liked by the authorities and after years of moving up the ranks, Anthony decided to leave the organization before it was too late. He and the family left everything behind and drove until they felt safely far enough away and would be forgotten. Mama Trovato’s pizza dough and sauce recipes still live today in each and every one of our homemade pizzas and calzones.
Jason Hendrix- A true homegrown Texan, Jason was born Jason Deere. As the grandson of a farm equipment guru, he had little worries and little care about the family business. In fact, his only contribution of note was the accidental picking of the company colors. As a baby, Jason loved to play with blocks and other building toys, but only played with the ones which were green and yellow. The family found this adorable and the company colors were set. It was year’s later before Jason was found to have a partial form of color blindness. Just prior to turning seventeen he decided to leave home and the business to sow his oats. So disappointed was the family that he was told not to return. In retaliation and resenting his treatment he decided to change his last name to that of his favorite musician, Jimi Hendrix. As the years past, Jason grew older and wiser. He became successful in the oil business as a land manager and although the green and yellow company had long since sold, he returned to his home, was welcomed back and is very much part of a happy family.
