I suppose I’m influenced by all kinds of music and being a drummer as well as a singer means that I like different stuff for different reasons. I’ve been drumming for a good while now and rock is what I always wanted to play. My favorite drummer without a doubt has to be John Bonham (Led Zepplin) he was a total one off unbelievable power but with amazing control and finesse and a wicked sound. I actually own a Ludwig Vistalite kit because he had one and it sounds amazing, the place I bought it from tell me it use to belong to Keith Moon (The Who), I don’t know how true this is but it’s I nice thought, I’d like to think so. I was lucky enough to see Led Zepplin at Knebworth back in 1979 I’m so glad I got to see Bonzo play in the flesh before he was taken from us. Here are a few drummers that also do it for me Ian Paice (Deep Purple) Cozy Powell (Session) Steve Gadd (Session) Geoff Pocaro (Toto) Phil Collins (Genesis).Vocally my influences are more soul and gospel based than anything else, usually singers with rich tonal quality’s and good range are what I listen to the most. These are a few of them Michael Mcdonald, James Ingram, Marvin Gaye and Steve Perry, if you get chance have a listen to an album called (Minute by Minute) by the Doobie Brothers featuring Michael Mcdonald, his voice and vocal arrangements are amazing on that album. I saw him twice at the (Royal Albert Hall) in London and he blew me away the second time I went to see him I went down with my mate Richard and some how we managed to miss our coach back so we were force to doss rough outside Kings Cross station all bloody night to call it an education would be an understatement. We were kept company all night by smelly pissed up tramps knocking the shit out of each other and trying to cuddle us whilst the London lady’s of the night paraded their wares and tried to befriend us..... nice
