Azra Records was started in 2003, with initial releases by Jah Wobble (English Roots Music), Starline Theorie (Vega), and the Silver Wizard (Crawling to Light) in March of 2004. Elevator Music by Jah Wobble and Muslimgauze Remixed: From the Edge were released in August of 2004. Starline Theorie's Obon and SSI's Pax Romana parts I-V completed 2004. 2005 saw the release of Bass Jihad by Dub Gabriel. In 2006, we released a second album by SSI (E Pluribus Unum), a debut by Point Loma (aka Bostich of the Nortec Collective) (Forneo), and the U.S. debut by Liverpool's Cranebuilders (Sometimes You Hear through Someone Else). 2007 saw the U.S. release of Acoustic Voodoo by Mad Juana with U.S. debuts by Australia's Velure, the Bambu Brothers, and Berlin's Genetic druGs to end the year. 2008 releases include Tjuana's Lhabia (Lhabia), UK artists Pacific Ocean Fire (Strangers and Deranged Patients), and Norway collective N.I.C. (N.I.C. in Dub). Stay tuned...
We've also launched the digital debut of legendary reggae producer Jah Life. We've released 8 full length albums (Barrrington Levy, Ranking Dread, Carlton Livingston, and more) and are compiling almost 200 7" singles which have never been available on CD or digitally. Check out your favorite digital dealer and if you don't see the albums, request them! Please visit the MySpace sites for (most of) our artists and enjoy the music. Azra records are available at all fine shops around the world and at many online retailers. (You can visit www.azrarecords.com for a full list of digital sites.)
