Born Lamar Antwaun Porter also known as Young P. 24 years young from Portland, Oregon. Has always been a fan of hip hop as a child his mother would always watch music videos, where he would copy the movements and styles from the artist. Growing up he was known for sports, but always had a strong passion for music. He would always write verses to his favorite songs but he never took rapping serious. In High School he would download instrumental beats and freestyle to them.At 20 years young he attend college where he would continue to write music as one of his hobbies. After doing a semester in college he realized that school wasn't for him. Young P came back home to Portland in 2003. That's when he realized that writing music was something he had fun doing. Everyday Young P would go over to his friends house to make songs to industry beats, which rappers call mixtape songs. Everyday Young P and his friends would record songs. His passion grew more and more everytime he wrote a verse. As time past he would learn how to write songs and work on his delivery. Young P started taking rap serious after one of his close friend died by the name of Eddie Barnett. Eddie always told Lamar that he should take rapping serious because he had the talent.Young P had linked up with an old High School buddy Javaun Sims also known as Jay Child. At the time Jay Child had a group called The Govament who he started the group up with Lawerence Bostic also known as Wizdom a super producer also from Portland, Oregon. Young P and Jay Child would rap on the phone all the time going over verses that they would write everyday. Jay Child loved Young P works ethic so much he decied to add him to his group The Gov. The two was a perfect match, they're swagger was perfect, also style of music was a match. The two recorded there first song at Momentum Studios in Portland call "Like It" featuring Deron. The song was an instant classic, also it was the start of something good.With the help of Wizdom, Jay Child and Young P would be one of the best groups in the city of Portland. The Gov recorded songs like "Star Next 2 A Star", "Doug E. Fresh", and "Real Thing", plus many more. They wanted to take a break from the group. The two artist decided to make there own albums first before they put out a group album. The Govament Campaign album will be put out but its just on hold right now.Young P is influence from rappers Jay-Z, Lil Wayne, T.I., The Game, Lupe Fiasco, Kanye West, Snoop Dogg, and many more. "I rap because I love Hip Hop, I rap because my fans, I rap because its my passion. If Hip Hop was a female she would be my girlfriend." - Young P. He has open up for artist such as Lil Wayne, Too $hort, Young Dro, and many more. Right now he is working on his own mixtape called "Grown N Sexy" which should be out in February. He is also working on his 1st album called "Ladies Man" featuring Jay Child, Jae-Lava, Wizdom, and many more. Everybody can put words together and record them over a beat. What makes you different from the next artist is by making songs.
