About Me

This site is endorsed by Hugh Panaro.
Best known to Broadway fans as The Phantom in Sir Andrew Lloyd Webber's The Phantom of the Opera, Hugh Panaro has become one of Broadway's most revered leading performers, drawing fans to his work through his extraordinary range and magnificent vocal talent.
A native of Philadelphia, Hugh made his Broadway debut in "Les Misérables" as Marius Pontmercy, the role he originated in the first national touring company. He created the roles of Julian Craster in Jules Stynes' last musical, "The Red Shoes" and Buddy Foster in "Side Show." He made his West End debut in the original London Company of Harold Prince's "Show Boat" as Gaylord Ravenal, a role he also played on Broadway and in Toronto. At Avery Fisher Hall, he performed with the Radio City Rockettes in Jerry Herman's "Mack and Mabel" and also in The Stephen Sondheim Gala, the culmination of the Kennedy Center's "Summer of Sondheim," where Hugh was Anthony Hope in "Sweeney Todd." In Los Angeles, he was Franklin Shepard in "Merrily We Roll Along" and received an Ovation nomination for his performance as Kenneth in "Call Me Madam," both for Reprise!.
As a concert artist, Hugh has performed with symphony orchestras across the U.S. and abroad and can be heard on numerous recordings.
Hugh originally left the Broadway production of "The Phantom of the Opera" after six months in the title role in 1999 when he chosen by producer Cameron Mackintosh for the American premiere of "Martin Guerre." He returned to the Majestic Theatre in 2003 to reprise his role as The Phantom for a total of 1,005 performances, making him the second longest and one of the most popular actors to wear the iconic mask on Broadway. In 2006, he created the title role in "Lestat," the Elton John musical based on the vampire novels by Anne Rice. That role was followed by a limited engagement as Bobby in the 5th Avenue Theater (Seattle) production of Sondheim's "Company" and a number of concert performances. In 2007, he was one of four Broadway performers touring with Barbra Streisand in her first concerts in Europe.
" Look for his upcoming Solo CD to be released soon.
