Her life goals and aspirations have always been to become a successful, all round Entertainer/Performer. Give her a mike and she becomes a promotional wizard, using her play on words to entice people to want to know more, Peaches could sell water to a well!Peaches went to Colindale Primary School, where she experienced her first acting production in the nativity plays and eventually hosted end of year showcases (aaahh how cute!)Peaches father was a musician and encouraged her to play the steel pans. Sometimes when the band would rehearse she would absorb the bands interaction and determination to progress as a band. She relished the fact that they would allow their individual personalities to come out through their music.At the age of 9 peaches performed in carnival as a dancer for 3 years with a group called Ebony and was even blessed with the title of Queen of the Carnival once!Throughout her childhood Peaches was very energetic. At 11 years old she went to Copthall Girls School in Mill Hill where she wrote poetry and formulated it into rap. She developed a group that did not last for more than 3 weeks but gave her the confidence to continue to develop her rapping and singing skills. She also took part in a school show, which she performed at a youth club in Harrow Road (Avenues).Peaches used to sit in her friends house (the mans dem) and spit, which is where she built more confidence allowing her to stand up to the men and prove her skills were just as good. We all know just how hard it is for female to progress in a male dominated industry such as entertainment. Peaches knew she had real talent because of the amount of encouragement she would get from her piers People would shower me with respect and keep encouraging me to really pursue this career.At the age of 13 Peaches ran away from home as things were bad, which resulted in her being put into care for 2 years. Due to her rebellious streak she got caught up in wrong crowds and started shop lifting and getting up to all sorts of mischief. This has helped mould Peaches into the woman you see today, someone who uses music as a source of expression to escape and teach others to do the same.After her time in care Peaches went back home and at the age of 15 was pregnant with her daughter Sherena (who is now 12years old.) Her mother decided to encourage her talents and described her daughter as half Saddam Hussein, half Charmer (How sweet).In August 1992 Peaches attended the BRITS Performing Arts school. This enabled her to harness her skills in a professional nature.From the age of 17 Peaches was living on her own, which along with her daughter meant she had to mature at a young age. She begun performing in showcases in Chalk Hill at a youth club called Coffers where she also became their entertaining host for shows.At 18 Peaches was working with a social worker called Desmond Coke and set up a community radio station called Peoples Choice in Harlesden. The station was supported by Harlesden City Challenge. This became the turning point where Peaches built the passion in communicating with audiences whether live shows over airwaves or live showcases.After the Peoples Choice radio Station Peaches did a 7-month stint on Unique Fm, which she enjoyed, as she felt like a young female really making an impact in a profession that is male dominated.Getting caught up with road and all the excitement Peaches started to lose track of her activities and in 1998 a month before her 21st birthday was sent to prison for 2 robberies (that she is not guilty for), fraud and deception (guilty). She served 2 years in prison and was released in 2000. In Peaches own words My time in prison was needed, as this was the turning point for me. I was allowed to find myself and strategize my goals and aspirations and how I was going to achieve them. Whilst in prison I learnt to master my time
Peaches wrote a docu-drama called Prison me no way, which was filmed by the HMP prison service and went on tour nation-wide. She also developed theatre productions in prison and performed them to the prison Governors and inmates and was awarded certificates.On release from prison Peaches went to Clean Break Theatre Company, where she was a student and achieved two Access courses in Performing Arts and Community Theatre. She took part in various Fringe theatre productions, Six Characters In Search of and Author by Luigi Pirandello, Shackles by Fifon King. This made it possible for her developed skills in Classical and Contemporary Theatre. Clean break prepared her for University.Peaches attended The Central school of Speech and Drama in 2001 where she achieved a BA Hon In Drama and Education and Applied Theatre. Doing this brought her back to her dreams of wanting to be an all round entertainer but one that can engage with any audience and have a laugh, a performer who can perform and give their all, leaving the audience wanting more.Peaches graduated from university in 2004 and since set up my own company called Reality Bytes to support young people in chasing their dreams.Peaches performed at Theatre Royal Stratford East in a production called Da Boyz alongside Kat from MTV/Choice Fm, Excalibah from 1XTRA, Kyza from Terrarfirma and many more stars in 2003.Angie Lemar has been a mentor for Peaches and has supported and advised her to this very day. She has produced shows of her own and had a launch for her company (Reality Bytes), which was held at Theatre Royal Stratford East in 2004 and was a sell out show.Since May 2004 Peaches has been the regular host of Ladies night at Deal Real Records, Carnaby Street, London. Ladies night showcases the talent of females in the music industry and is attended by many U.S artists and DJs (The likes of Executioners, DJ Whoo Kid, Pharoah Monch, Damon Dash, Mos Def, DJ Premier, Kanye West, Samantha Ronson, Nicole Wray, Cassidy, Redman & Method Man, GZA etc.) as well as a huge array of unsigned and signed British artists (The likes of Klashnekoff & Terra Firma, Goldsmiths, Skinny Man, Amy Winehouse, Terri Walker etc.)Peaches has gone from strength to strength. Featuring on artistes tracks such as Tellin You on Music Mystro, Silent Eclipse MCD Mix tape and Jungle Ambassadors Mix tape.The highlight of 2004 was an interview on BBC1, when they followed Peaches and interviewed her about being in the news and on radio with Geoff Schumann (94.9fm BBC London). They were interested in the pleasant reception she received from the public since changing her negative past into a positive future; not just for her but for the world to see it is possible.In September 2005 Peaches was selected to appear in the prestigious movie Life N Lyrics alongside co-stars such as Asher D & Baby Blue (mc) which has sparked the light that is her on-screen career.Peaches can only keep on growing from strength to strength.
