Sasm Gang Reunited 2006
Virginia Woolf on women and Reading, November 1924: A hundred years ago it was simple enough; [women] were stars who shone only in male sunshine; deprived of it, they languished into nonentity - sniffed, bickered, envied each other - so men said. But now it must be confessed things are less satisfactory. Passion and repulsions manifest themselves here too, and it is by no means certain that every woman is inspired by pure envy when she reads what another has written. More probably Emily Bronte was the passion of her youth; Charlotte even she loved with nervous affection; and cherished a quiet sisterly regard for Anne. Mrs. Gaskell wields a maternal sway over readers of her own sex; wise, witty and very large-minded , her readers are devoted to her as to the most admirable of mothers; whereas George Eliot is an Aunt, and , as an Aunt, inimitable. So treated she drops the apparatus of masculinity which Herbert Spencer necessitated; indulges herself in memory; and pours forth, no doubt with some rustic accent, the genial stores of her youth, the greatness and profundity of her soul. Jane Austen we needs must adore; but she does not want it; she wants nothing; our love is a by-product, an irrelevance; with that mist or without it her moon shines on. * ...... width="425" height="350" ................!

This beautiful lot... Anne-for making me this fabby birthday card! Charlotte - she's my best friend, she's like the sister I never had, we live at each others houses and borrow each others stuff, we are living proof that opposites attract, she keeps me sane, without her I would possibly have ended up in a mental assylum by now, she puts up with my endless moaning and even when we fight we end up laughing. She's one of those people who I can spend time with without having to talk to her if you get what I mean, we can spend a night in companiable silence and still know the other persons there, * Torie - she's my oldest friend, I've known her for about 14 years now and still she puts up with me. I have too many good memories of her and one of my regrets in life is that we missed out 5 years when we went to different secondary schools but now we're at Esher together and it's all good, * Ava- met Ava in year 5 when she was a diehard Vegetarian and obsessed with animals - yes, we went to Pet Club together woo! She moved to York and I miss her loads but we're still amazingly good friends and thanks to the wonder of the internet we have the power to send each other clips from 10 things I hate about you, Ava is possibly one of the most perfect people I know, * Faye- Faye is my fellow vogue girly, we are too obsessed with fashion and films and magazines, one day we're going to edit our own magazine together and it will be amazing, Faye is always nice to me, I don't think she has it in her to be horrible, * Amber- Amber always makes me laugh in a positive way. She is uber brainy even though she tells you she isn't, and along with faye we are english and culture loving geeks together. Even though we never quite carry out our plans for cultural days out the potential is there ok! * Jess- she is like my twinny, we are sun worshippers together and always stress about the stupidly huge piles of work we have to do, then we go out for coffee instead. We're too addicted to frappucino's. Jess brings out the mental side in me, like our sun worshippers dance and just generally our crazy dancing days. Without Jess I would not have survived Secondary school and I know that when we're OAP's we will still be spending nights in with scrabble and horlicks together, * Moley Jo is hilarious, we have many good time when she is drunk especially when she brings out the napolean dance, together we share a love of cake even though we are in denial that we may have once eaten an entire chocolate cake between us, it's all a lie!! I fear she may have eaten mine and jess's newly acquired goldfish ..
