Omarsito was born on July 16th, in Rio Piedras, Puerto Rico. From an early age, Omarsito was exposed to salsa music through his mother, who raised him as a single parent between Puerto Rico and New York City. Omar attended Art & Design High School in New York City. His greatest influences are Frankie Ruiz, Ruben Blades, Tito Nieves, Roberto (Bobby) ValentÃn, and Omar Alfanno, for his ability as a songwriter.Omar attended West Virginia University in Morgantown, W.V., as he pursued degrees in computer and electrical engineering. It wasn’t until he graduated that he followed his true passion of singing salsa once moving back to New York City. He later pursued additional education with a Master of Business Administration (MBA) in a private college in Connecticut while writing and arranging songs in his spare time. While singing with local bands, he developed his skills in which allowed him to further develop his musical talent. Omarsito, now is in a proper creative environment, as a songwriter and sonero, he finally began to see his natural musical ability flourish. Inspired, he then moved to Miami, FL to complete his debut album, “El Canto de Alegriaâ€.His extraordinary energy and commitment are on course of allowing him to make significant contributions to salsa music and specifically to the "salsa sensual" movement, also known as salsa romantica.
