About Me

Billy White hails from San Francisco, CA. He studied with Kenny Burrell at UCLA, where he earned many scholarships and awards for his piano playing. He studied ethnomusicology, a study which combines the fields of anthropology and music, learning bits of chinese, Indian, Indonesian, and African styles. He has many theories about the origins of music and language which he hopes one day to fully develop. He currently has the huge blessing to be making his living as a musician. He plays for the Martha Graham dance school, accompanies for the Children's Community Theater, and teaches private piano lessons. In addition to his study of the piano, Billy also a producer who has worked with a wide variety of artist in the rock, hip-hop and soul genres. He is also a dedicated remixer and has been involved in collaborations for the Verve Remixed and Buddha Bar compilations. While in Los Angeles, Billy helped found the hip-hop collective BOKU, fronted by sensational rapper and television star Jo D. Jonz. Their infectious energy caught the ears of Arista records and MTV News, and was recently discovered by a European booking agency for a 2008 tour culminating in a major festival in Berlin. Billy has performed in Paris, Tel Aviv, San Francisco, Los Angeles, and New York at some of the largest and smallest venues around the world. He is currently working on a jazz quintet, a singer-songwriter LP, a remix album, a string quartet, and a soul project. His philosophy is: Be Yourself.
