With his tight vocal skills and smooth choreography make him one to easily compete with artists such as Joe, Usher and Justin Timberlake. A Knoxville, TN native, C. Jay has been captivating audiences since the age of twelve with his voice and stage presence. Starting out in school talent shows from elementary though his high school years, he always seemed to shine above the competetion, everyone knew he was destined to be a star. After high school, C. Jay became a member of a pop group called "Paradise," performing at local schools and shopping malls. Though, the group broke up after just a few short years. With C.Jay's drive, dedication and ambition toward music, he wasn't ready to give up so easily. He formed a new R&B group called "Unique" but like before, the group only lasted three short years. At this point in his life, C. Jay was confused and had become discouraged. Motivated by fans, friends, and family, C. Jay was asked if he ever had thought of going solo. So ultimately he knew that was the thing to do.While performing at local clubs and different charity events, C. Jay caught the eye of Charles Pope, singer and member of the legendary group the Tams. Ultimately this led C. Jay to being introduced to his daughter, Tameka "Tiny" Cottle (co-writer of TLC's smash hit No Scrubs) of the R&B group Xscape.Although closer to fulfilling his ambitions, C. Jay still longed for his big break into the music business. In the meantime, still grindin' in the studio demoing and writing songs with Tiny, C. Jay was introduced to R&B sensation, Jagged Edge.At this point, C. Jay was in the studio everyday working on a strong demo with the Jagged Edge camp, 581 and Multi Money Music "SK." Still looking to break his way into Show Biz, he was introduced to entertainment lawyer "Drew Jackson," who has led his career and has handled his business needs ever since.Through his attorney, C. Jay has been working with some of the hottest up and coming producers in Atlanta. Producers such as Chucky Charles from Redzone Entertainment (B2K's smash Uh Huh, Mya's Case of the Ex (Whatcha Gonna Do), & many other hits) and others who've produced tracks for such artists as 112, Xscape, Donell Jones, and Lil' Zane. There's no denying that C. Jay is definately in the right hands and well on his way to becoming the superstar that he was destined to be.More recently C. Jay has performed in many clubs and opened for major recording artists such as Xscape and the Ying Yang Twins throughout the Southeast. Also spending much time in the studio refining his own sound and helping other upcoming talent to redefine their own style. This multitalented upcoming artist undoubtedly proves that there's no question that C. Jay is the sound of what's to come.
