About Me

The short of what you need to know about me is this: I LOVE music. I love to listen to it, teach it, play it, think about it. It is who I am and the day I can make a living from it full time without having to do the "day job" gig, I will! In the meantime, I hold down a university job to support my "habit". I started playing violin at the age of 10 in public school and officially switched to viola when I attended the University of Michigan for viola performance and music education. While in studying, I had the privilege to do some studio work on Donnie McClurkin's "Live in London" CD, including the Grammy-award winning "We Fall Down"; and on Richard Smallwood's "Healing: Live in Detroit" CD and video. Unfortunately, on both CD liners they spelled my name wrong, (Laronya Woods and LaTonva Woods respectively) but at least in the Richard Smallwood video, I get some air time so you can see it's really me :)In any case, my desire and reason for being on Myspace is to network with other musicians. I really want to branch into more studio work. I'm interested in learning about production and would love to lay down background vocals as well as strings. I have a lot of different musical tastes and I am pretty much open to all styles. I'm really ready to make music my life's work. While it's steady, I don't see myself retiring from the university job in 20 years. The very thought depresses me. I hope to find likeminded people that will inspire me. I hope in turn to inspire you.

SOTW - Keep on Moving by Soul II Soul

This song is one of my favorite songs from the 90's.  Everything about it to me is pretty perfect: lyrical content, vocal delivery, string arrangement, even the 90's heavy bass back beat .  ...

SOTW - Luchini by Camp Lo

SOTW- Be With Me by J. Holiday

I love all types of music, but to me there is something special about R&B, good R&B that is.  It's my comfort music.  I can't listen to classical like some non-musicians do&that is a...

P. Diddy does it again!

For anybody that knows me, it's common knowledge that I find Sean "P. Diddy, Puff Daddy, Puffy, Puff-meister" Combs to be the musical equivalent of rotten Spam.  And because he's self admittedly ...
