Shifter started with the collaboration of four individuals who got together to form a Death Metal band known as Deity. In 1992 Deity debuted in San Antonio and dominated the scene until the departure of original bassist Ryan Jenkins. With the absences of Deity, the scene lay dormant until the unleashing of the newest project of Deity. Shifter's newest member James (Roach) Lurati strengthens the rhythm section with his dominating basslines and thundering sound. Shifter is a side project for these guy's but they still pour the souls into every line of music that they produce. If you are looking for something original and violent yet full of meaning, then Shifter maybe what you have been looking for all this time. The only way to describe this intense music is, This is what you would hear if you got into a Barfight, and beat the shit out of somebody. Then realized that the blood on your knuckles was not yours.
