About Me
|
Born in the western suburbs of Sydney, Kris Fade spent his spare time as a teenager playing basketball, guitar and drums, all the while dreaming of one day having a career in media. A lot of various musical influences such as, the roots, Timbaland, Michael Jackson, the eagles and Nirvana, to name a few, helped him build an affluent passion for music and, unbeknownced to him, would be the tool which would help build and secure his career in the future.
After finishing school, he went on to study Bachelor of commerce at university. In his final year, realizing the motivation was not there; he left uni and instead, studied advertising and promotions for 2 years at TAFE.
One of Kris’s earliest jobs in marketing had him working a steady 9 to 5. He realized the passion for music and entertainment was too strong a factor in his life, when a job at a radio station was announced for a new member to be part of the promotional team, he took a risk, stepping down from the corporate ladder, and entering the world of radio almost immediately winning the position over thousands of applicants.
He worked his way to the top by driving through Sydney’s streets giving away free EDGE promotional products, while also studying at AFTRS (Australian Television and Radio School) after work.
Kris Fade’s hopes and dreams were soon to become a reality when, after driving the EDGE car for 2 years, an opportunity arose to take over the graveyard time-slot meaning he would be the host of the stations "mid to dawn" shift while also co-hosting the night show with K-Sera.
The early mornings and long hours paid off when only a few months later, he was offered the highly coveted “drive show†position in the afternoons…..
Renowned for being the emcee for Sydney’s NBL basketball teams and some of the hottest clubs in NSW, you'll often see Kris Fade work his magic on the
mic on the stages of Sydney’s best venues.
He has certainly come a long way. His experience and expertise in Radio have given him the opportunity to work on television and overseas, the privilege of interviewing and meeting some of the worlds most influential artists such as Ice Cube Xzibit, pussy cat dolls, Bob Sinclair, T-pain, Cassie, Nelly Furtado just to name a few; and after a joint win at the 2006 Urban Music Awards for best radio show, K-sera and the Dirty dozen with Kris Fade in 2006, he has now been nominated for best radio announcer at this years 2007 ACRA'S (Australian Commercial Radio Awards).
One listen to the show and you will see why. His quick wit, charm and energetic delivery will have every listener enthralled, entertained, sometimes even shocked, when he takes the segment one step further than your average radio program.
You can catch Kris Fade’s drive show on 96.1 between 3 & 7 every day of the week and even a glimpse of the man himself when he’s out promoting the latest entertainment and up to date events. Stay tuned as his journey continues……
