I guess it'd go a little something like this: I'm 20 years old, I'm a waitress. I've been up & I've been down. I've had the world, and I've had it viciously ripped away. I've buried 13 people in my life, including my best friend, my Nana, and my Grandmom. I refuse to simply take things, I will not live my life through handouts. I can't stand people who's parents give them anything they want, not because I'm jealous but because what is there to say about someone who can't go out and get what they want themselves? I've seen a lot for someone my age, I've accomplished more than some people ever will. By age 6, I was singing in restaurants. By age 8, I had artwork hanging in Barnes & Nobles. By the age of 10, I had been in more than 5 plays, starring in one. By the age of 14, I was teaching children's art classes. By the age of 15, I had my work published in a magazine (which is now in 2 books.) By the age of 17, I had 6 giant mosaics that I created hanging in Willow Grove Mall (& they're still there!) By the age of 19, I've had pieces in over 15 art shows. By 20, I have made & kept the kinds of friends people can only dream of ever having. I have walked down hallways people never dreamed existing. Most importantly, I have come to the understanding that despite everything, there's still so much more that life has to offer me. & I will be there to claim everything I work so hard for someday. & it will have been worth everything. I wouldn't change a single thing that's happened to me, it's made me the person I am. Out of all the things I've seen and accomplished in my life, what I cherish most is the fact that I'm happy with who I am. No successful career, no amount of money, no person- nothing will ever be able to give me what I've given to myself. & that's all there is to it. :)life is short, break the rules!

I'd like to meet:

i turned a corner on a south philly street one october evening, after parking 4 blocks away because i can't parallel park. i came face to face with excited eyes- a man in brown pants & a green sweater, who's smile stopped me in my tracks that day. home had never really meant home until i was in those arms. & no matter where i lay my head at night, i finally know where i belong. thank you.
