EDIT! I thought about this some more and realized how wrong my original thought was. I've went out of my way to meet people and I don't regret it. My first 'big' deal person I met was John Doe. I met him at the first X show in Denver, Co, well met isn't really the true word. THAT time, I saw the show, it was on Halloween and I was dressed in my best vamperic gear. (figure that!) and at the end of the show he walks by all the reaching hands and stops and takes mine in his, leans and kisses me (I don't recall anything after that on account that I was in a daze for about a week). Then they to Nashville and while I had tickets for their show, they were playing earlier in the day at a CD shop. I raced down to see them, freaking out because I couldn't find the damn place. Finally i did, they were halfway thru their set and i was a bit nervous about taking some pics, "would they think me rude?" so i took a few sneaky shots and waited until they were done, then I got to meet with each member of the band (John, Exene, DJ and Tony), get autographs, pictures and just chat, such nice guys, then I saw them at the show that night and talked some more. I met John again when he came thru with The John Doe Thing and he walked up to ME and said he remembered me. Though recently they came thru with the Knitters and i went to talk to him and he didn't seem liek he remembered, darn my drastic hair change. Then the next person I met that I probably waited the longest to meet, was Clive Barker. The only author I've cared to meet to date, my god, that man has charisma. His sexual orientation be damned, he's one of the most beautiful man with the most amazing voice ever and sparkling blue eyes. I later met some other people that I really enjoyed, Dexter Holland of the offspring.. I met him while in London when they had just came out with "Come out and Play" single and we were going to come to their concert that night, but had found out they were sold out. After talking to him a few minutes prior, he heard they were sold out and said he'd put us on the guest list... imagine my surprise when we showed up that night and we were actually on the list! From that day on, he was my hero! One year we were geeking hard and went to Gencon in Milwaukee, while doing our "vampire the gathering" thing there, we were invited to a party given by White Wolf and Mark Reinheigen. So we're at the crazy party and the guys in our group come up to saying they think the guys from Rancid were in a cafe across the street and knew that I'd know for sure. So I follow them (In my glorious red vampire cape I was wearing) and enter the cafe and walk right up to them talking on the pay phone. "Hi there, are you Tim?" i say and Tim armstrong nods, "Hi there... and this is Lars" (as if i didn't know). I didn't want to bug them but they were so nice I told them that I saw them in Nashville and thought they were great and turned and left. Just about every year Andrea and I head down to Atlanta to get our geek on at Dragoncon and see the freaks and geeks and the stars that show up. One year I went just to see Jason Mewes (from Jay and silent bob if you don't know). I gotta say though, he smelled mucho of cigarettes and didn't seem as tall IRL. One year at the vans warped tour I saw Davey Havok walking around with a black parasole, I bounced up and down and grabbed my husbands arm, "OMG! It's Davey!" SO i bounce over to him and get him to sign the AFI shirt i'm wearing, to this day, "TREASURED!"What other beautiful people would I love to meet? How about Mikey Way and Frank Iero from MCR? Or Dani Filth from CradleofFilth, that'd be a good start.
