About Me

/
Thanks for checking out my page! I am your typical Bronx-raised, family oriented, well educated person. I combine street smarts and a no bullshit attitude with family values and aggressive work ethic. I have a great sense of humor and tend to like intelligent jokes (like The Far Side comics). Im a professional drummer and drum teacher. I recently moved from New York City to West Palm Beach, and Im looking to meet up with other drummers to network and swap ideas with. In addition to the drums, Im a small business owner and currently working on my graduate degree. Check out my website at www.DavidCapuzelo.com
Ive studied with some of the greatest drum teachers in the biz- Tommy Igoe, Dom Famularo, and Gary Chaffee and have turned my experience with them into a full time teaching career.
Teaching is something I take very seriously, and Ive been fortunate to have some students receive national recognition with different bands and solo competitions. I believe that no teacher can do everything effectively, and I'll be the first to tell you that if you're looking for someone to show you the finer points of a 17 stroke roll in an orchestral setting, Im probably not the guy for you. If, however, you are looking for real-world applications of advanced phrasing and motion concepts that will make you stand apart from other drummers, I can help, guaranteed!Create or get your

My Interests

I'd like to meet:

Im looking to meet nice people who use their brain for constructive purposes, not violence. Im a talker...talk, talk, talk, and Anyone that can keep interesting conversation is a plus! Im also looking to network with other drummers, of course.

Heres a quick video of me taking a simple sticking idea, and recycling it to get some different feels out of it. Its important to do this with all the stickings and articulations that you know, because you never know what you may discover! ....

Heres the famous drum lick from "Chuck E's in Love". I know this lick never dies, so I wanted to post it for all who may not know how to play it.Its linear in fashion, and the sticking is FLLRRLLF RLLRRLLF, with the right hand coming over to the snare for 2 & 4. These notes are played as 32nd notes, against a moderately slow beat.As usual, my video camera is lousy and wont pick up any subtle playing, but in reality the lick is played with softer grace notes than Im playing here, and a little bit slower.I start the video off playing it REAL slow, so you can hopefully grasp how the sticking falls, then I bring it up to a workable speed.

What is Linear drumming?

Linear drumming is one of the things that I specialize in, and one of the styles that most people come to me to learn. Its can literally be used in ANY style of music, at any tempo, and is very often ...
