About Me

I was a wrestling and boxing arena built in the heart of Phoenix, Arizona in 1929. Events were held in me until 1979, because at that time the property was sold. Ironically, for those with a sense of humor and some "smarts" to the wrestling game, I became a warehouse called Arizona Jobber Supply. In 2005, I was torn down in spite of efforts by many to save me, for my historic value (Thanks a lot, City of Phoenix).

My Interests

I'd like to meet:

People into wrestling history, as I saw a lot of it. A man named Jim Wright died within me in the 1960s, from a fatal heart attack in the ring. I saw all the greats and many of the so-so greats from The Great Depression to The Disco Era. After I was torn down, one of The Lumberjacks who used to wrestle here, came and picked up several of my adobe bricks to give to surviving wrestlers who appeared within my walls.Like Lou Thesz, Buddy Rogers, Rudy Navarro, Don Kent, The Comancheros, Ripper Collins, Johnny Mann and so many others who have passed before me, I have died and followed them to the grave. My memory will last a long, long time, though the cheers have gone silent and the spot where I stood has been altered. You see, the ghosts of the past are not silenced so easily.
