My name is Jon or Edward. First and foremost I am a child of God as we all are. I am a servant and nothing more. I sometimes struggle with trying to define myself cause frankly society makes it difficult. I can tell you that I am a Youth and Young Adult director at my parish. I am also a musician. I do both full time. You're probably wondering to yourself, "what does that exactly entail?" or "I wonder how much money that position makes". I'll divulge that I don't make a lot of money but I do love my job. So now you're probably thinking to yourself, "oh well, that's great, at least he is happy". I respond with the idea that contrary to what most might believe, I don't do this for happiness. I have chosen to do this because it's about serving. It's about serving the teens that I have created great relationships with. It's about serving the people that find peace in their hearts. It's about serving the God who has made this blessed life possible. I make no excuses for who I am or what I have chosen to do. Should I have to answer to society? to what others might define success to be? To make excuses for why I don't subscribe to societal demands would only cheapen this vocation that I've been drawn to and gifted with. I'd rather live this life of great meaning.
Blessed Mother Theresa said, "we aren't called to success, we are called to holiness." I don't know about you, but I'd rather listen to a woman who has accomplished so many great things. I'd rather listen to her wisdom than to that of the average person who hates their job, their life, and their path.
I pray that you find what God has planned for you. I pray that you allow God to work in you. I pray that you allow God to help shape and polish you into the best version of yourself.
I love God. I love my girlfriend Izza. I love my family. I love my friends. I love this gift of life. And I can only say, "Thank you Most High!"
