WPs LAST PERFORMANCE EVER...420 Festival on 4/20!!

About Me

Six innovative musicians combine skilled lyricism and a tight jam band to create a progressive definition of Hip Hop that has the universatility to appeal to all audiences. Written Prisms are influenced greatly by the music of The Roots, Santana, Outkast, Herbie Hancock, De La Soul, Miles Davis, The Meters, Jimi Hendrix, A Tribe Called Quest, Muddy Waters, and Soulive just to name a few. They only need your interest for one moment the present and will fill that moment with a fusion of meaningful music that is guaranteed to make you catch the funky leg. On July 1st, Written Prisms released their new album, Ellipsis, to an audience of over 500 people at the East Coast's newest music venue, the Rams Head Live! in Baltimore, MD. They were not only one of the first local unsigned acts to headline the club, but the turnout yielded was far beyond what is expected from an area band. At over 78 minutes in length, Ellipsis is an innnovative trip through the many diverse musical influences that each member of the sextet draws from, as well as the daily operation that is everydayness. Moving slyly between jazz, hip hop, funk and even afro-beat grooves, the album has something for every music lover without losing it's cohesive sound. Ellipsis has received overwhelmingly enthusiastic reviews from several industry publications since its release in July 05. Greg Yost, columnist for the definitive Baltimore/DC Metro Area music magazine, Music Monthly, praised the WPs as one of the best up-and-coming groups in the Baltimore areaNot only do the boys from Written Prisms prove that they have the mic skills to be labeled legitimate hip hop artists, but these guys are great musicians who have an excellent command of a wide variety of styles." Their live performances are strong and energetic, as they clearly reflect the diversity of their influences by blending creative concoctions of music as they present their positive message. The music you need to exist is right here manifesting itself as genuine, as art, and as truth.
