On Becoming a Biologist

About Me

I've escaped the surly bonds of research academia and am teaching full-time at a local community college. Enjoying it a lot more than I thought I would....I never wanted to be a teacher, but maybe this is just where I belong.I'm helping to rennovate rental properties that were flooded in Katrina. I can sheetrock, mud, paint, power-sand floors, strip paint off windows, haul debris, and clean out really nasty bathtubs. It's great to be talented!I'm also into photography and arts/crafts like beading, stamping, scrapbooking, decoupage, painting, anything else that will sit still and let me exercise the right side of my brain. Because I'm an eternally poverty stricken grad student I can usually be found in thrift stores and garage sales looking for objects to support my crafting habits.I'd be into some serious travel if I could afford it- I'd love to be one of those people with a map on the wall and a handful of darts. One day. . . when I'm old and the student loan folks have had their 47,000lbs of flesh.
