BA (hons) Popular Music with Music Technology
This is a Myspace page set up to showcase the musical talent that has come out of the University of Derby's BA(hons) Popular Music with Music Technology programme.
Generally, when people hear the degree name "Popular music" they tend to think of some "Micky mouse" degree about studying "Beyonce" and "Westlife", but (as this page intends to show) this is not the case.
The PMMT course has been the breeding ground of some great musicians! Many students have created some incredible music covering many different genres. For your listening pleasure we have put up four pieces from four different students highlighting the standard of the work.
Featured Artists
Liam Ryan - "Reflections"Liam Ryan (the guitarist from funk rockers Onion) is one of the most elegant acoustic guitarists you'll ever hear. Heavily influenced by Indonesian music, Liams tracks are well thought out, mind blowing trips into the heart of music, and have something so fresh about them that they'll leave you wanting more!
Pando - "Then It Is"Blake Lowis and Paul Tabor have spent much of their lives playing music in various bands, solo projects, university projects, but with eduaction out of the way and the guitar playing of Blakes brother, Mark, Pando have become a recognisable force on the Derby music scene over the past three months. With a sound reminicent of Elives Presley meets Kaiser Cheifs, these three nothern lads have mastered the craft of writting catchy pop songs. It's hard not to like it and it's harder not to sing along. Just fantastic
Simon Andrews - "Momentum" (taken from the EP "Half Way There")After the release of his debut album at the beginning of the year, Simon has become a true force in the Derby music scene, noth playing and organising. "Far From Home" was a purely solo effort, but with so many new songs and old ones needing the full band feel, the new EP, "Half Way There" has made this dream come true. Classic heart felt song writting with solid sing along chorus' and toe tapping beats. You can download the whole EP from Simon's Soundclick page .
