Chalk another one up to plea bargaining. Meet Corey “Lucky†Howard, seen here in a mug shot from December of 2002 after his arrest on murder charges in connection with the shooting death of a Ansonia (Connecticut) 16-year-old football star. Howard, already a convicted drug dealer, was trying to seal a drug deal when Monte Johnson and a friend stumbled on the scene. Johnson and Howard got into an argument, and Howard shot Johnson to death. Under the plea agreement, Howard pled guilty to first-degree manslaughter and carrying a revolver without a permit. So instead of the death penalty, Howard now faces 35 years in prison, to be suspended after 25 years. Maybe “Lucky†is a good nickname for this loser.
