Before Elliot ever wrote a song, he said “I’m never going to write a love song, they are dumb and cliché”. That was before he fell in love. Now a self admitted walking ball of cheese, Elliot writes songs about love. But not just your average three minutes thirty, chick-flick soundtrack, hit of the week love songs. Elliot’s music will make you think, feel, laugh, love and quite possibly have you singing that tune over in your head for days.
When Elliot joined The Ember Days as singer/guitarist, he still wanted to continue his acoustic side project. For him it was another side, another outlet to share his heart to people about love, truth, life and God. This side project as it was, would eventually find its way into the hands of Rachel hope.
His hit song “What nightmares are made of” was a joke song about wanting to ask this girl out but was far too scared to. “I wrote it before I ever really talked to her, I thought she was really pretty, but scary too, and its funny cos now we’re married!” Elliot jokes about renaming the song to “A nightmare come true”.
When Elliot was just 19, he recorded his first EP, Chasing the wind. He did it all in his bedroom after school, using whatever instruments he could find/play. Drawing from influences such as Copeland, Jimmy Eat World, Hellogoodbye and The Postal Service he experimented with sounds and techniques to come up with an original acoustic EP.
This is just the beginning for Elliot, with new songs and inspiration on the way; he aims to further this side project to a full band. All he needs now is a drummer, guitarist and a bassist. But for the meantime, be sure to check out his free EP online.
