About Me
When streetlight formed in early 2004, the decision to make a blend of various styles and influences was the driving force of the band. Streetlight comprises of 5 musicians from varying musical backgrounds and influences, this, in essence laid a strong yet flexible foundation for the birth of a style which has yet to be determined. Musical influences ranging from 'The Cure' to 'the fall', 'Led Zeppelin','Death Cab For Cutie' and 'Thursday', and many more. A constant flow of ideas continues to restructure the sound of each verse chorus and bridge. This amalgamation of ideas between leigh, jono, Dan, Chris and Ben continues to push streetlight in to new areas and create their distinctive sound. With the mystical sound of Rach on violin, who features in some of the songs, a certain air of sincerity and positivity is encouraged and adds to the effect of the emotional and melodic expressions. Streetlight's sound can not be defined within musical boundaries and has been described as, "a refreshing change, a blend of heavy and melodic" , "from rock to emo to hardcore to mellow"and "a mix of emo, rock, punk, hardcore and screamo without losing its catchiness". Look out for streetlight in the near future as a band with huge potential and wild on stage antics.
