I grew up in Maryville, Tennessee and started playing bass when I was 13. Listening to my Dad and Uncle pick guitars and play & sing Jimmy Rodgers, Ernest Tubb, Hank Cochran, and Hank Williams songs into the night pretty much defined Country Music to me. Then there was playing that great Southern Gospel in church when I was a kid and watching those wonderful TV shows like Flatt & Scruggs, The Wilburn Brothers, and Porter Wagoner on Saturday afternoons. College brought exposure to Country Rock, Outlaw Country, Jazz, the Allman Bros., John Prine, Jerry Jeff Walker, Jimmy Buffett, Western Swing, and well, a lot of different kinds of music from all over the spectrum. A never ending journey, as it were. Bass influences include Bill Graham, Lee Sklar, Emory Gordy Jr., Tommy Cogbill, Berry Oakley, Carl Radle, Duck Dunn, Willie Weeks, Harry Dailey, Roy Husky Jr., and Bob Livingston.I live in the Atlanta area and can be found most weekends playing with friends in venues around N. GA with occasional forays to TN, TX, CA, or anywhere else pickers are gathered to have fun!
