About Me

A classically-trained violinist inspired by progressive rock & 1970s fusion, I defected to what-jazz-should-have-become. My debut CD “Tomorrow’s Memories” had extensive UK airplay on Jazz FM and Solar Radio and was playlisted in territories worldwide. About three or four more albums in the pipeline.

My Interests

Music:

Band Members: A revolving door of top UK talent, depending on who's available at any given time, but usually including genius guitarist and sometime co-writer/co-producer Richard Scarfe.
Influences: Jean-Luc Ponty, Chick Corea, Herbie Hancock, Santana ('69 to '75), George Duke, Billy Cobham, Pat Metheney, Roy Ayers, Artur Akilov, Nino Katamadze, the vibe of Cafe del Mar etc.
Sounds Like: They say it's unique... but imagine early Santana with added violin and jazz-rock / funk influences. Richly textured, strong grooves, atmosphereric, all played by real musicians.
Record Label: DJC Records
Type of Label: Indie

More musings on the pursuit of success

I threatened to post more on this - and here it is. Self-belief is only half the game - the other half is publicity. If you don't get heard by the right people then you won't succeed - this applies to...

About the music and Marius

It occurred to me that there may be a few people out there who'd like to know a bit about the musicians on these recordings and in any case, credit is due. Thus a blog is born. On the posted recording...

Self-belief and the pursuit of success

Successful people always seem to be saying how they always knew they would make it, and in the UK, where success is a sure recipe for attracting resentment, such talk is dismissed as the boastin...

It's a rant! Music, audio and the state of the industry

A couple of 14 year-old girls wearing teensy mini-skirts and too much makeup bop around on a bench in the shopping centre. Between them, a mobile phone's "loudspeaker" buzzes with the sound of the lat...
