The Flying Club was formed in Los Angeles, CA in June 2004 when Jean Hsu (vocals, guitars) and Rian Turner (drums) blended their punk, metal, and indie-rock roots to form an alternative/melodic rock band.
Veterans of the Knitting Factory, the Hard Rock Cafe, the Derby, Chain Reaction, the Block at Orange, Fort Reno and numerous other venues on the West and East coasts, The Flying Club hit the studio to record their debut full-length album, Apocalypse Tonight, Perfect Tomorrow, in early 2005. The band worked with engineer Karl Rigas (Tricky, David Crosby, XXX soundtrack) at Cherokee Studios (David Bowie, Pixies,
Jimmy Eat World).
After success placing songs on various compilations and soundtracks, and with their debut album in hand, Jean and Rian are ready to be illegally downloaded en masse by pirating high school and college kids everywhere, at which point the band will siphon their money back with outlandish mark-ups on merchandise. And then all will be well.
