About Me

Deciduous is a 4-piece Bay Area band playing grooving, song- oriented music that embraces many different genres, songs that hopefully will incite both movement & thought.
Listeners searching for music that is funky yet powerful, rocking yet dynamic & eclectic yet accessible will surely find a lot to like on the debut album Humblewise, released summer 2006 with the intention of "hitting you in all the right places" says bandleader Bob Davis (keys & vox).
Deciduous' current lineup was handpicked spring of 2005, when Davis, who also contributes a good share of the album's varied percussion, was searching for the right musicians to expand on a series of musical outlines he had conceived during periods of intense soul searching, meditation & personal reflection.
He elaborates, "I wanted to bring some of the Bay Area's most unique musicians together to add their feeling, emphasis and interpretation of this music to my vision. The musicians on this CD are first of all good people and also hard-working professionals, the project just came together like it was all meant to be".
Drummer/percussionist Jake Wood, bassist Alex Cordrey & guitarist Cam found encouragement & space within the music to add their own voices to Davis' sketches. The resulting recordings, laid down autumn 2005 at South San Francisco's Trakworx studios, are focused, yet feature a considerable amount of improvisation & interplay between the four, something found rarely today in studio recordings outside of jazz.
The record features 14 songs & 2 instrumentals & though the material is song & vocal oriented, a huge amount of musical ground is covered. Highlights include Tuvan throat singing, a massive percussion ensemble, odd meter funk, "rainbow flavour crystals" guitar, spoken word, a backwards guitar solo & countless fills, lines, flavors & musical tidbits thrown back & forth between all members.
