My Blog

Blogging

I'm in somewhat of a quandary about the whole nature of blogging... I originally loved the whole concept as being a place one could write stuff - that people could read.  But that inherently is ...

Life event

My daughter moved out today.  I'm not quite sure how I feel yet.  I'm kind of looking forward to living on my own for the first time in 36 years, but am also going to miss her terribly. ...

Vets

Ok - maybe a strange musing, but I was talking to a taxi driver the other day and he raised a question that made me think... He was saying how he could now get most services he required at a discount...

Music and sheep

Just got back from a weekend at Latitude - a 3 day festival at the "other" end of the A12. (Yes - there really is a place at that end - it doesn't just run off the cliffs and plunge you into the North...

A little melancholy

Feeling generally bloody miserable this evening and indulging in some uncharacteristic self-pity... I've been off work ill for a couple of days - always guaranteed to put me in a bad mood.  I ha...

Sunday afternoon in an electrical superstore

Due to an unforeseen disaster with a washing machine and some loose plaster on the ceiling - it has been necessary to finally replace my 20 year old fridge-freezer. (It would take too long to explain ...

Bring back Hovis

If anybody ever asks you to just "pick up some wheat-free bread" on your way home from work - save yourself some time and effort and just tell them to bugger off. After being laughed out of several s...

Only in this country would we be insane enough to continue with plans for a barbecue on the wettest, windiest day in May... Imagine a tiny garden in a Victorian terrace - covered with a gazebo (bit o...

Sorry to go on about it but...

Ok.  I do apologise - I can promise categorically that I'm not going to become a running bore - but there's still a couple of things I need to get off my chest. How hard can it be??? In my naive...

Not quite a marathon achievement

A few weeks ago, I was in one of those rare positive frames of mind.  You know the type - similar to when you sit up getting very stoned with lots of friends when you're about 14, and you just kn...
