Chapter 1: Vama Veche, in 2003.
After a few beers and a lot of sun, Adi was playing an imaginary drum set, on Dream Theaters Pull Me Under. Some guy came to him asking if Adis a drummer. Well, hes wasnt really a drummer, but he moved his hands in a cute way and the guy (Dan) was really impressed with the technique of hitting the air. They moved to the shadow, since the sun was warming the beers up and they started to plan a future band. Sometime in the morning, Dan and Costin (who was also there but was no mentioned since he hasnt done anything) played on the stage of Stufstock some Lake of Tears covers. That proved to Adi (though he was sleeping at the time) that the band might have a great potential. Andy and Sorin came later to join the band and the guys agreed to name the band Nexus, after a famous Romanian shoes&leather store. Actually this was the name of Andys first band and they didnt have any other bright idea at the time.
Chapter 2: New Years Eve 2003-2004.
Everybody was celebrating and drinking and eating, and of course, the Nexus members did the same, but not together. Andy, alone with his guitar and keyboard and dreaming at his imaginary girlfriend, suddenly had an epiphany and starting writing and singing and writing some more. And the album was ready.
Chapter 3: Year of 2004.
Well. In the spring, the first demo was recorded, using computers mostly , cause they were not able to record drums and stuff. And then, the guys harvested the results of this poorly recorded but brilliant demo: they toured Romania, playing from small clubs to large open-air festivals. No matter the venue, the number of attendants remained the same. And, since September, Nexus lost their rehearsal hall, and had no place to practice until the spring of 2005.
Chapter 4: Year of 2005.
Having a new rehearsal studio and some good equipment to work with, Nexus started to plan the next album and to work on the live appearances. The enthusiasm lasted just a couple of months, since the summer came with a plague for nexus: sun, sea, beers, trips, vacations. And some exams for some of the members. And furthermore, Sorin took the time to practice in an advertising agency and never bother to call for several months. So a new bass player was needed. Fortunately, the Christmas came early for Nexus, with Katala and his bass and with the end of the recording&mixing session.
Chapter 5: Year of 2006.
After a very long time away from the stage, NeXuS is as eager as can be to storm it. The first two shows of the year brought awesome feedback from the audience, especially towards the new songs. The fans want it? the fans got it: the band is to start writing songs again, in the same way it did the last few songs.
Chapter 6: Year of 2007.
This year marked NeXuS' first shows outside Romania in Vienna (Austria). After the shows in Bucharest and the performance of this years edition of the Top T Festival, NeXuS is off to finish the mixing on the new EP (which will also be our last before we finally record the first LP) and to continue working on the new songs. You'll get to hear a sneak preview pretty soon ! The best is yet to come...
Chapter 7: 2008-2009.
The end of 2008 brought the second line-up change in the band's history. Due to personal reasons, Costin decided to leave the band in the fall. The only replacement we could all think of was Constantin Sandu (Harap Alb, Quartz, Krypton, Voltaj, M.S., Act). Fortunately he liked the music and joined the band in november. We already started to work on new songs for our upcoming LP (which will probably be titled Prayers in the Dark) and we should start the recording sessions within a couple of months. As far as shows go, stay tuned! We'll announce them soon!
This is the story so far. Still to come, as time goes by.
