Official Boring Bio: Sarma Melngailis, co-founder, proprietor and executive chef of NYC restaurant Pure Food and Wine, is harvesting her many talents, limitless energy, and varied life-experience towards realizing her vision: presenting raw food and the raw lifestyle as accessible, uplifting, and sexy, thereby increasing the appeal of living healthier to the largest possible audience for a maximum overall positive impact on people's quality of life. Sarma is also the Founder and President of One Lucky Duck, Inc., which operates www.oneluckyduck.com, an online boutique offering products for the ultimate raw and organic lifestyle. One Lucky Duck, Inc. also labels and distributes a line of snack products all made and packaged by hand at Pure Food and Wine, and sold through various Whole Foods and other retail locations throughout the country, as well as on oneluckyduck.com, and through the restaurant's own takeaway and retail shop. She is co-author of Raw Food Real World (2005, Harper Collins), a beautifully illustrated book of recipes and practical advice related to raw foods.Sarma is a graduate of the French Culinary Institute. She also holds a B.S. in Economics and a B.A. in Economics from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania.
