About Me

Stefan Couture is no stranger to the acoustic scene of the bars, clubs and coffee houses of the northeast and beyond. He got is start like many local singer/songwriters before him, by busking on the subway platforms of Boston, MA...working his way up and down the red line and getting his feet wet as a performer choppin' out tunes on the cobblestone streets of Harvard Square.During this time Stefan recorded his full length album, Great Big Somewhere and toured relentlessly throughout the Northeast as a troubadour and also pulled off two west coast tours up and down the pacific coast line. With his soulful voice and timeless songwriting skills, Stefan chugged along gaining a grass roots fan base one show at a time. After a year and a half of performing solo, he had a strong urge to put a band together and take his music to another level. At this point in time he formed, Stefan Couture and the Campfire Orchestra. The Campfire Orchestra took Stefan's lyrics and music to places his songs had never been. The sound was a big ol' melting pot of American music. Blending MODERN FOLK, POP, SOUL, BLUES, FUNK and JAZZ they created a powerhouse sound with a thunderous live show that rumbled it's way through bars and clubs of the north and southeast. It was during these years that Stefan started to make a name for himself. The Providence Phoenix in 2005 voted Stefan Couture and the CFO's album, GHOST IN THE REARVIEW, ALBUM OF THE YEAR along with Stefan being voted as, BEST MALE VOCALIST. They recieved national attention for being finalist in the 2005 RELIX NATIONAL JAM OFF and started to gain a coast to coast audience of listeners when Stefan's song, PAST TENSE was chosen as the first track on the 2005 OASIS POP RADIO COMPILATION that was distributed out to 500 college radio stations from Maine to Alaska and all points inbetween. Stefan was now staring to leave an imprint and being acknowledged for his talent of writing songs when he became a semi-finalist (out of thousands of other singer/songwriters nationwide) in the 2005 STARBUCKS EMERGING SONGWRITING COMPETITION.Unfortunately, Stefan's campfire finally burned out at the end of 2006...an amazing three year relationship that basically ran it's course.Stefan walked away from music for a year, unsure if he even felt like doing it anymore. He re-emerged a year later with a new TRIO and a revitalized love and focus for life and music, after a really dark period and the untimely death of his uncle. The formation of the TRIO was a moment of coming full circle again for Stefan. A testimony to fate, trust and good things coming back around. These days it's all about giving the songs what they need. No flashy guitar solos, no thumping organs or over powering saxophones....Just great songs standing on their own with nothing but acoustic guitar, drums and bass. Songs full of happy and sad moments...songs that aren't afraid to show beauty, courage, and strength while celebrating all the laughter, joy and pain.THE STEFAN COUTURE TRIO wouldn't even exist without the back bone that is CHRIS MONTECALVO on drums and percussion and Stefan's cousin, TIM COUTURE on bass. Together these guys kick a huge sound for an acoustic trio, blending MODERN FOLK with everything from organic sounding DRUM N BASS GROOVES to ROOTS ROCK and SOUL!! The chemistry they share not only intertwines seasoned musicianship, but is literally the sound of best buddies and family making music as one.So here we are....A new chapter...A new story...a clean slate awaits. The highway calls and Stefan has once again found a way to blaze a path through the mystery of it all... a true underdog you can't help but cheer on!!!
