Things That Make Me Happy:
1. [ First Friday Crawl ]
The first Friday of every month the galleries in Denver open up, feed you, and let you walk around for hours looking at random art.
My favorite first Friday moment? Sitting next to the metal bonfire dinosaur fire pit with my mom and this drunk girl, as the both of them waited for the dinosaur to shoot out fire from it's mouth. I love bonfires in the middle of the city.
2. [ The Denver Art Museum ]
I'm an art geek. I'll admit it. And while half of the art in the contemporary section of the art museum is a little strange, I still love it. I have great respect for any artist who publicly shows their work, because I certainly haven't.
3. [ Sixth and Penn ]
I will miss my Denver apartment so much when we move. Actually, I'll just miss the location, not necessarily the digs. But Sixth and Penn is the only place I can see Ethiopians worship on Sundays, get my homemade Moe's Denver Bagels, and see the gay guy next door talking about his gay pet parakeet. Oh my.
4. [ The Jamaican Bakery on Colfax ]
We've gone here for years. Mr. Jamaican Man, you are amazing. You're the only place within several blocks of me that I can go and talk to someone who sounds like some crazy Belizean. Plus, you make the most AMAZING cassava pudding.
5. [ The Denver Public Library ]
Do you believe me now when I say that I'm a nerd? :)
Definitely my favorite place in Denver, I've been coming here since I was a little kid with my mama and checking out 30-40 kids books at a time. Only back in the day I had a little red wagon that my poor mommy would have to haul home. Ah, the good ol' days...
