Libra Project

Progressive beats and lyrics for all to hear

About Me

..
The Libra Project brings together a powerful, live musical fusion of hip hop, reggae and funk.  The content is deeply conscious and socially-engaged while remaining positive and uplifting.Libra Project was started in 2002 in Western Massachusetts by brothers Joe and Ben Gell with vocalist/sax player, Jeremy Rothe-Kushel. Joe and Jeremy had collaborated playing traditional African drums together in the Kusika Drum and Dance Ensemble. Six months later, Roberto, the youngest of the Gell brothers joined the project. In the beginning, the founding four members rocked the mic to electronic beats. They took it to the west coast in 2005 and worked with various musicians with a rotating lineup in Los Angeles. Keyboardist Gabriel Eng joined the group in 2006. Later drummer Mark Rebak, flautist Marie Saintonge, and bassist Nathan Kramer joined in 2008.
Their diverse sound and message bridges all generation gaps and cultural divisions. The continuing mission of the crew is to bring positive and progressive music to their audiences everywhere. Libra Project loves to play for young and old, inside and outside, North, South, East and West.
Music lovers of all kinds will be compelled by their sound.
