Pun Plamondon played a crucial role in the Detroit counterculture scene that brought us, among other things, the MC5 and the Stooges. He first gained notoriety as the White Panther Party's Minister of Defense and chief political instigator. He was on the FBI 10 Most Wanted list after he fled an indictment on the bombing of a CIA office in Ann Arbor. He was a principal in a case that went all the way to the US Supreme Court. He helped bring down Nixon, drove a semi for Kiss, and worked as Bob Seger's bodyguard.
While Plamondon has been largely out of the public eye for many years, he is releasing his memoir, Lost From the Ottawa: Story of the Journey Back.
Lost from the Ottawa: the Story of the Journey Back, by Pun Plamondon (Plamondon Inc., 2004)
"I knew of Pun through John Sinclair's Guitar Army and dropped him an email after reading an article about his publication. He lives maybe forty minutes from me and I had the opportunity to speak with him at a reading in a local restaurant. As quoted on the back cover of Lost from the Ottawa: "Pun begins his story as an adopted 'no-brand kid'. He grows up to find himself deeply involved in the anti-war '60's counterculture, which lands him a spot on the FBI's Ten Most Wanted list. Later-- after shamefully exploring the depths of despair and alcoholism--through a chance meeting with a larger-than-life American Indian, Pun becomes a respected Odawa tribal elder. His story will show how easy it is to become lost in this spiritless culture--and how difficult it is to find your way back." --Phil Bellfy
