About Me

This Profile is now maintained by our dear Papa.
"Forgery of fox mixes delicious a wild set of savours - rock of Glam, news vague, no wave, Punk, Post-punk, Prog, electro, copy, and hop of hip in new put strange which will leave you thoughtless and wanting more. Their odd executions of phase, however perking up should not be missed... or to be easily forgotten." -Lucien Testeverde, Bitchcork
"As usual, Faux Fox put on a more visually than audially stimulating show, with the lead singer prancing across the stage, pumping up the crowd in what I can only describe as a kimono with a skinny little rope headband and knee high moccasins, bringing to mind an emaciated Boy George Christmas elf. They sounded great and even seemed to win over the SMU log-necks who probably called the band 'fags' when the curtain first went up." -Party Ends!
"Faux Fox has been playing 80's sounding, keyboard heavy rock for so long that they actually existed in a time when it wasn't nearly as common to do so. Their music sometimes seems to almost border on parody and they piss a lot of people off, which is always a plus." -We Shot JR

ENDLESS PURSUIT (2006, QUARTZ INTL/FROG MAN JAKE)
"Faux Fox pretty much came out of nowhere and ran us over like an SUV. Their WTF blend of preposterous synthesizers, Roxy Music density and epic lyrics is so nihilistic, even The Internet said "damn!" Actually they came out of Dallas, but the point is the "Endless Pursuit" EP (a split release with their own Quartz International label) is the bees knees. The CD features a 6-panel foldout portrait of the band and the extended "Nothing Gold." Let's do this." -Frog Man JakeTRACK LISTING (CLICK TITLES TO LISTEN) 1 THE CAPTIVE 2 DREAMS DON'T DIE3 NOTHING GOLD$5

CUSP OF THE PRECIPICE (2004, QUARTZL INTL)
"Cusp of the Precipice’s twelve tracks steep the naïve allure of 90's dance pop in a vat of corruption. The bouncy synth beats are still there, but they’ve been subverted in the service of an aesthetic driven by sarcasm and clinical bitterness. It sounds like Faux Fox know exactly what they’re doing, too. On opener “Lovable Losers,” singer George Quartz monotones, “Don’t fool yourself, we’re going to lose”. It’s a weird embrace of failure, an eerily peaceful sort of acceptance. It’s the disc’s most danceable and upbeat track, the beats and distorted guitars emphasizing rather that suppressing the melody’s underlying brightness.
A sense of damaged sexuality pervades much of Cusp of the Precipice, particularly on “Baby’s having Babies,” which details the pernicious consequences of a “hot beef injection” on a high school field trip; “Young Doctors in Love” and “Caligula” also imply the juxtaposition of sexuality with Quartz’s voice, which is singularly un-sexy. It makes for an excellent aura of tension." -Alex Marx, -SplendidTRACK LISTING (CLICK TITLES TO LISTEN) 1 LOVABLE LOSERS 2 FAGGOTRON 3 BABY'S HAVING BABIES 4 ZIRCONIA 5 YOUNG DOCTORS IN LOVE 6 TIGER WOODS 7 CALIGULA 8 WEEKEND WARRIOR 9 BLOOD SUMMER 10 HIT THE WALL 11 MAYBE TONIGHT'S THE NIGHT

"Straight outta Denton, following the path of the current sound of the grand-children of Telex, Gary Numan, and other early electropop pioneers, Faux Fox play it pretty straight. Not afraid to warble like the boys in OMD, but preferring to intone like someone very familiar with German electronic new wave as well as the entire pre-1980’s factory catalogue. -Gary Dickerson, Self-Help Radio KOOP 91.7, Austin, TexasTRACK LISTING (CLICK TITLES TO LISTEN) 1 SMART SET 2 KATE IS A FASCIST3 ANDROGYNE4 RAZOR MAZE 5 SUV 6 STAR 807 CRYSTAL CASTLES $7
