About Me

I was born in 1984 and have been composing and playing keyboards since the age of 8 years. During early childhood it was great fun for me to create songs, record them on cassette recorder, make booklets from cut sketchbook coloured by felt-tips. What looked like one of the child's plays turned out to be the beginning of my real passion. In 1997 my long time dream came true - my parents bought me Yamaha keyboard. It motivated me to practise composition, arrangements. But more or less at the turn of the century (lol, sounds pathetic, doesn't it? ;) I had two, three-year pause. Yet the passion didn't give up. I came back to work in the end of 2000 and that was start of the next chapter. In 2001, 2002 and 2003 I recorded three albums on CD. But all that was still recorded only by me, just for fun, with all rock instrumentarium played on keyboards, in the secluded spot of my room. I even didn't think about presenting it to the wider audience or trying to release well sounding album with "real" instruments, vocals etc. At that time stylistically I started heading towards progressive rock. I have been inspired by many great art rock bands but have never permanently looked up on them. So I haven't made my music in a way some bands today do, when they try to copy their masters. Therefore many things: bands, albums, books, images influence me but I want it to be Wojtek's music.

My way of making music saw volte-face in 2004. I presented my classic+ethnic prog album from 2001, folk-prog concept from 2002 and psychedelic concept album from 2003 to my friend. He offered to help and to join forces in re-recording my stuff in a professional way. Then I realised how I'd love to release CD and I couldn't believe I hadn't thought about it earlier. Recording it turned out to be very time-consuming. But I'm thinking of other projects and at least have new goal: to record nice, well sounding album. As long as I don't have any complete recordings I'm presenting here my old stuff (made with MIDI banks) and also the song drafts (with errors characteristic for such versions ;) etc. I hope that despite the fact these are old or early versions you'll like the ideas, arrangements and melodies. Thank you for your visit.

With more than a little help from my friends I'm at the moment recording songs for the concept album (Shall We Wonder will be from this CD). All this seems like a very long road for hobby musicians but I'm hopeful about that.

My Interests

Music:

Band Members: Just me... as a songwriter and keyboardist :).

SHALL WE WONDER - with Michal Wozniak (altoviolin) and some guitarwork by Tony - AURORIS.
Influences: Specific, main influences are difficult to enumerate mainly because my attitude towards composing is that the music is a journey and the listener is a traveller. I love to travel so I visit many different "areas". Therefore I will name only a few of my influences: Rush, Genesis, Mike Oldfield, fantasy, Hitchcock, Pierre Esteve, noir movies and books, Anekdoten, Porcupine Tree, 19th Century, Electric Light Orchestra, Mostly Autumn, Canterbury scene, East Asia, The Beatles...
Sounds Like: See above - it's also difficult to tell. I like to set my music in the scenery: it can be for example futuristic metropolis, feudal Japan, fantasy world. As a result I find it difficult to label my compositions. Definitely rock, definitely with progressive inclinations, but sometimes folk, sometimes very psychedelic, once set in idyllic lands, another time placed in modern world reality.
Record Label: So far own label ;)
Type of Label: Major
