About Me

Harry St. Clare is a DJ, Producer, Engineer, and avid record collector. At the age of 16, Harry began Djing at local venues all over NYC. By the age of 18, he was performing at the famed Apollo Theatre in Harlem, NY as N.M.C. & A.D.J., a rap group produced by Kenny "Dope" Gonzalez which was headed up by Dirty Harry as the DJ and a neighborhood friend as the MC. "This was the age of conscious rap and we were heavily into that scene with KRS-One, Public Enemy, Intelligent Hoodlum, De La Soul"...."But we were also into the Juice Crew, Rakim, Ultra Magnetic MCs etc...." DJ Red Alert kept the song "Messiah" in constant rotation at his world-famous DJ Red Alert Show on Kiss FM in NYC and many of the major labels sought to sign the young act from Brooklyn. By all accounts, Dirty Harry possessed the skills of a DMC Champion caliber DJ. However, when the rap scene began to take a turn in the early 90s, Harry gravitated towards the club-oriented freestyle records and early house music coming from Chicago and NY. With his neighborhood peers Mike Delgado, Todd Terry, and Kenny Dope sitting firmly atop the house music scene, Harry began to produce house music; with early contributions coming in the form of "The Ha Dance" by Masters At Work among others. By 1995, Harry St. Clare piqued the interest of, and recorded for, some of the true heavy-weights of the dance circuit; including Masters at Work, Todd Terry, Angel Moraes, Henry Street, Strictly Rhythm, 83 West, Liquid Groove and others. After some creative differences with one of the labels that signed him to an album deal at the time, Harry decided to pursue a degree in Finance and Economics; all the while working anonymously to perfect his production skills in the studio. After a 6 year hiatus, Harry released follow up records with Henry Street, King Street and Nite Grooves from 2003-2006. Currently, Dirty Harry is releasing his own projects on the Groove Cartel Music Recordings imprint as well as bringing on new talent.
