My Interests

Music:

Band Website: http://georgeluke.wordpress.com/
Band Members: Me and yo' mama
Influences: As a radio DJ and music journo, I work primarily - but not exclusively - in the Christian music arena. On the world Music side, I'm inspired by the big guys of World Music on UK radio: Andy Kershaw, Charlie Gillett, Gerry Lyseight, and of course the late, great John Peel. I like to combine good music with current affairs and human interest stories (being a journo as well as a DJ) and in this area my influences are "intelligent DJs" such as Nicky Campbell (especially his late night show on Radio 1 back in the day). I also cover jazz, soul, rock, hip hop - basically anything apart from country. I occasionally sit in for my friend Mike Parlett on Solar Radio, where I play a mix of funk, jazz, gospel and soul from the 70s to the present day. I also occasionally go flat out down the commercial route, playing real Sharon-and-Tracey-round-their-handbags pop stuff at parties and the odd club. I like variety, me!
Sounds Like: Sounds like what good radio ought to sound like!
Type of Label: Major
