I moved to Nashville with the desire to have a hit song on CMT or GAC. One song in particular that describes a lovestyle that I identified with for a season in my life. (Pretty controversial stuff).A semi professional performer since 22, I had the good fortune to showcase 80's music in my first 3 bands.
I did a brief stint as Barbra Streisand after that while living in Las Vegas in 1992. The timing to do that was premium as well because Barbra had been out of the live performance circuit for 20 years. She came back to Vegas after that 20 year hiatus right when I was in the middle of copying her act. Of course I got tickets for both nights to see her concert. I consider that favor from God. Why He destined me for the Streisand opportunities is yet to be understood. I thank God for the talent to demonstrate in replicated tone but as a little girl I dreamed of being just like Ann Margret. (I've also seen Ann Margret concerts 4 times in Vegas:) Though I've grown to understand I have to be me, I still dream of riding motorcycles with Ann Margret. (She loves bikes...me too).
If I ever get that opportunity, I could show her the dance moves I learned from her.My captivation for Elvis Presley was the greatest inspiration for me musically and characteristically. I was so immersed in his personality that I started acting like him. (I was 8 when I started this behavior). Thank God Ann Margret showed up in one of his movies during this time. I realized it was more fitting for a girl to emulate Ann Margret rather than Elvis.
I continued to listen to Elvis music into the 70's then finally gave into 70's rock mostly because it grew on me after seeing the rock opera Tommy so many times just because Ann Margret was in the movie. Finally other female rockers started to come on the scene like Susie Quatro, Blondie Linda Rondstat, Bette Miller (in the rock movie the Rose). Then, The 80's... Pretenders Berlin, Lone Justice (Maria Mckee!), Cock Robin(video uploaded) the Motels and Pat Benatar etc...I've included clips of performances of cover material from the greats that shaped me. (more to be added as I search my personal video archives).I'm grateful for that era and I continue to progress (unless I allow something to stifle that) til the day I die.I'm really grateful for modern technology and the great music found and developed because of it.Currently I'm looking forward to starting rehearsals backing on guitar,a new up and coming country artist named De'leah Wiles. Thanks to all of the fans found on this site,of these great performers that I also am a fan of.
Music is bonding. That's why I am here, Cindy
