About Me

I had another paragraph written here but it somehow got deleted. It was witty, funny, and wonderful and I'm sure you would've all loved it to pieces. Alas, you'll have to settle for whatever vestiges of said paragraph that I can scrape up from memory.I'm a 23-year-old working stiff trying to figure out which college I want to empty my pockets to and for what. It's a great type of limbo. Flying by the seat of my pants is a common theme, so I made sure I'd get them double-stitched so I won't fall to my death. "Mad props" to whoever can tell me which movie that's from. Even if you can give me the actor or the directors (hint) I'll be impressed. But you don't need my validation, so just consider it as a way to humor me.The other paragraph was much better. I'm sorry. It bothers me immensely that I can't separate paragraphs.

My Interests

Baseball (White Sox), Football (Bears and Hawkeyes), Hockey (Blackhawks- both Waterloo and Chicago), European Football (LFC), Boxing and pretty much any sport that doesn't require the use of machinery or metal. I like listening to different music, writing anecdotal things, occasionally reading, eating good food, travelling to fun places and just being a social butterfly.

I'd like to meet:

People who aren't easily offended, as many times I find myself saying offensive things just to get a reaction/push buttons. I'm cheeky like that. Anyone with a decent sense of humor and their own non-spoonfed opinions is a-okay with me. People who hate the Chicago Cubs most definitely welcome, but I suppose I can pity those of you who haven't woken up to the fact that the south side of Chicago has a much better baseball team. I'd also like to meet Chuck Woolery. He seems like he'd be fine company and smell good.

Music:

The Who, The Rolling Stones, Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, Bob Dylan, The Mars Volta, Queens of the Stone Age, System of a Down, Tool, A Perfect Circle, The Zombies, The Beatles, Eric Clapton, Cream, Jefferson Airplane, The Doors, Jimi Hendrix, Alice in Chains, Nirvana, Ted Nugent, Bob Seger, Rage Against the Machine, The Beastie Boys, Audioslave, Stone Temple Pilots, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Creedence Clearwater Revival, Janis Joplin, Emerson Lake & Palmer, David Bowie, The Clash, Sparta, Johnny Cash, Bruce Springsteen, Deadsy, and many more. I'm not too big into pop music because I'm not too keen on the use of synthesizers to enhance vocals (unless it's Peter Frampton). But I'll give anything a listen at least once.

Movies:

Donnie Darko, The Life Aquatic With Steve Zissou, Platoon, Natural Born Killers, Fight Club, Full Metal Jacket, A Clockwork Orange, 2001: A Space Oddyssey, Dr. Strangelove, Clerks, Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Fight Club, Apocalypse Now, Midnight Cowboy, too many more to list. I'm a huge movie lover.

Television:

Late Night With Conan O'Brien, Family Guy, Futurama, The Simpsons. I don't watch much TV anymore. Ironic since I just got cable, eh?

Books:

The Dark Tower, 1984, Fahrenheit 451, The Long Walk, The Lord of the Rings, The Chronicles of Narnia, All Quiet on the Western Front, Johnny Tremain, Catcher in the Rye... I have a hard time finding things to read that pique my interest. I find myself falling asleep too easily. I suppose it has to do with an author's voice. I try and find interesting things wherever I can get them, though. Different forums online, magazines, newspapers, makes no difference. I like things that make me think or feel empathetic. You have to have a good or interesting protagonist.

Heroes:

The Fantastic Four, Punisher, the X-Men and okay, I'll stop being a smartass now. I admire anyone in a shitty situation with a sunny disposition but not people with a sunny disposition that they try to implement in others that don't want it.THIS MEANS YOU, JESUS!

So I haven't written one of these in a fairly long time, but I figure now is as good a time as any- seeing as it will probably be another seven months before I write another. Not much has changed in th...

Laundromat Blues

I write most of my stuff while I'm at the laundromat. But surprisingly, I don't gather much material from there. Shocking once you consider some of the weird stuff that goes down whilst there. Just la...

Psychology of eating alone

"It was an unseasonably warm Feb. 14th, which allowed the children to walk home without their jackets." The Simpsons quote runs through my brain as I leave the store to head home. It's 60-some degrees...

Psychology of a haircut reloaded

I need a haircut. I say this to no one. I know it's time. There's a home show coming up again and I have to try and sell some stuff and nothing's changed enough to where rednecks want to buy from hipp...

Psychology of a haircut (long)

"I need a haircut," I say to Rita as we stand idly behind the counter at work. I wait for her reaction. "Yeah, you do," she says with a grimace that tells me, "I didn't want to be the one to say it...
