Akwesasne-land where the Partridge drums: Mohawk Kanienkahaka Territory.I am bear clan, I Sing with the Akwesasne women singers (Kontiwennenhawi)- Carrier of the words. We sing traditional songs in the Kanienkeha (language)...in the songs we promote our language. We perform in schools and social events, gatherings.We have a second CD soon to be released soon. I'm a midwife and birth attendent and support home birth's which bring family members together for a special ceremony for the new born baby. My training started in Tennessee (The Farm) trained with spiritual midwifes from all 4 corners of turtle island. Massage Therapy,Natural Healing Techniques. Worked with Mushkeg Film Production from Montreal Quebec on a documentary "Living the language" based on the Akwesasne Freedom School. which will air on Aboriginal peoples television network (APTN)in the fall of 2008.Akwesasne Freedom School (AFS) started in the fall of 1979 founded by the traditional mothers and fathers of Akwesasne who wanted their children to know more of their identity and governmental structure before going to a regular public school system.The school starts from Pre-k to Grade nine.On my own time i work on music documantary's with native performers. Gathering footage and getting it together is a great enjoyable experience.Co-ordinator contact person for setting up native performers for concert performance in Akwesasne.Presently working as a Mohawk cultural and language teacher at the Tsi Snaihne School, teaching to read and write and understand the language,culture,traditional songs and dances and native craft work to promote the Mohawk language to enhance their identity.Casual case aid worker for youth adolescence group home working with youth giving them support while they are staying in the group home...
