Ruthie Sumiko Tabata, Producer/Artist/AdminsitratorWith over 10 years experience producing multi-disciplinary events, projects, and celebrations as well as managing organizations, Ruthie's passion for art & festivals came from her desire to showcase and recognize artists of various disciplines, providing venues for emerging artists and bringing communities together.She co-founded and produced the award-winning events: Art Matters Festival (at Concordia University in Montréal) and the ArtsWells Festival of All Things Art (Wells, BC).She has produced the Talking Stick Festival, a celebration of contemporary Aboriginal performance and art, and is currently working with the Magnetic North Theatre Festival, Canada's national English Theatre Festival, in Vancouver.Ruthie is an artist also of stiltwalking, costumes, props, lantern making, décor, mosaics, murals, Japanese tea ceremony, and other performance. From her travels and work abroad she integrates spirits, sounds, motifs, landscapes, and ways of thinking to her present home - wherever that may be (presently Vancouver, BC).
