Band Members: Well, as this is a record label and not a band there's only me. My name is Mike and I used to run the label more or less on my own. I am now working at a radio station in Berlin, Germany. I am a great music lover and I listen to pop and rock music most of the day. I do write about music and related topics on my own website. And in the near future I might start to put out vinyl singles again!
Influences: I was born in the Fifties and raised in the Sixties on a diet of beat, garage pop, psychedelic, pop art and rock'n'roll. Therefor my main influences are from the mid to late Sixties. But I do listen to a lot of other music from all times as well. In the late Seventies I had my second coming out with punk and new wave. And during the Eighties I listened to everything from paisley pop to neo garage punk and beyond. Independent and alternative pop and rock are what I like best. Though if it is good music, it doesn't matter what label it bears. My favourite records are by The Beatles, The Stones, The Who, The Small Faces, The Kinks, The Yardbirds, early Pink Floyd, The Byrds, but also by The Ramones, The Clash, Buzzcocks, Wire, The Only Ones, and even Nirvana (the trio from Seattle, though I do like the British pop-sike group as well) and younger bands like The Libertines or The White Stripes. I am a great fan of all kinds of rock and pop music from Scandinavia and especially Finland. FRom The Blues Section and Wigwam to Eppu Normaali and Pelle Miljoona, from Hassisen Kone and Sielun Veljet to The Nights Of Iguana and Jolly Jumpers, from Melrose the The Flaming Sideburns, from 22 Pistepirkko to the Micra Girls - Finnish Rock Rules!
Sounds Like: The music on Twang! records sounds like a lot of fun! From powerpop to rock'n'roll, from folkrock to garage punk, from girl group sounds to alternative country buzz. All is possible on Twang! - Well, almost all. - You won't hear jazz or classical music on Twang! And I can't imagine to put out a heavy metal or hardcore punk record. All sorts of techno, electro and industrial stuff are more or less taboo here. Otherwise, if it's a good tune and a clever sound, handmade preferably, than it's very welcome. From folk to country, from rockabilly to punk, from psychedelia to artpop - the song comes first and then the sound.
