Owen Hogan first major release is the five track EP, "The River and The Hill." Hailing from Northern NSW, Australia, Owen explores the love of family and his homeland with this precious blend of country, folk and blues.
“Northern Tablelands Expressâ€, Owen’s first single, was released in June 2008 and has received airplay nationally and throughout the UK, Belgium and The Netherlands. It was also chosen to be part of the official 2008 Tamworth Country Music Festival compilation CD.
Owen was chosen as a finalist for the prestigious 2008 Toyota Star Maker in Tamworth and received recognition of his work through ABC FM radio as a finalist in the Artsnest Award 2007 for his song “Waiting for the Dayâ€.
Owen grew up influenced by the sounds of Australian country and folk music. It was on a sheep and cattle farm in Wybong, NSW that he learnt the joys and hardships of country life. Much of his work is inspired by his idyllic childhood. He learnt saxophone from aged 10 then moved onto clarinet, bass, guitar, singing and playing harmonica. Owen also demonstrates versatility with composing. He has written jingles for television and radio along with his own contemporary folk styled, emotionally filled songs.
