About Me

Blak Dymondz combines Hip Hop and Reggae music to bring a dynamic sound to the music industry. The group is comprised of Christopher Connaught, artist name Radix, and Tony Burnett, artist name Malachi. Radix and Malachi met in their first group “The Pipers”, during which time they polished their Hip Hop and Reggae skills at New York's Buddha Bar, Club Harambee, Africa House, and Caribbean Dome. Their song "Charlotte" and music video was featured on ESPN for the NCAA final four championship game. Blak Dymondz has also performed at Tropical Soul, Crossroads in Virginia, and Wesleyan University in Connecticut.Blak Dymondz looks to Hip Hop innovators Eric B & Rakim, Big Daddy Kane, Tribe Called Quest, Nas, Jay Z and Outkast when creating their soulful music, catchy lyrics and rhythms. Reggae icons such as Bob Marley, Barrington Levy, and Shabba Ranks also inspire The Dymondz with their message-laden, melodic, and harmonic music. Blak Dymondz hopes that through their fusion of different styles they will capture a diverse audience and create unity. Therefore they founded the acronym: F.O.U.N.D.A.T.I.O.N. short for "Forever of Unity, Never Divided, All Together, In One Nation." Blak Dymondz Debut Album will be out summer of 09. Please stay tune, more updates to come. a

Band Members: Christopher Connaught aka Radix/Dusty Roads born in Grenada, West Indies came to America where he now resides in Bronx, NY. Radix grew up under the influences of Bob Marley, The Mighty Sparrow, and The Commodores, etc. Because of his love for reggae and calypso he would hang around mobile reggae sound systems. After experiencing these live performances he burned to be on stage himself. Soon Radix would start performing at different venues, where audiences would encourage him to start making records. Radix now started taking music more seriously writing reggae songs and crafting his vocal ability. He then met his partner Malachi and together they would collaborate, mixing reggae with popular hip hop to form Blak Dymondz. From dj to producer to Artist Tony Burnett aka Malachi/Tony Mantana was born to perform. Born in Barbados West Indies and influenced by Reggae, Calypso and Soul music, Malachi moved to Brooklyn, NY. One night while spinning records at one his parties, Malachi realized that he wanted his music to move people. Malachi decided he wanted to come out from behind the turntables and be a performer himself. He started creating music by any means possible in order for him and his Crew to write to. Soon thereafter he would head the rap group The Pipers and perform on stage with former member Concept along with now partner Radix. In time Radix would join forces with Malachi to become the dynamic duo Blak Dymondz.
