CKY, standing for Camp Kill Yourself a band that cannot be catorgorized, if you would have to put them down somewhere you could say rock, but rock being a very loose description of what they are as they are unlike anything else but they do pull together the greatness of hot guitar riffs but in a new totally unique wayThey hail from West Chester, Philidelphia in America, coming to life in 1998 made up of lead vocal/guitarist Deron Miller, guitarist Chad Ginsburg, drummer Jess Margera and bassist Ryan Bruni. The first label that CKY signed to was TM International under the name Camp Kill Yourself. They had their first release Volume 1 in 1999. Soon after CKY left TM Int and joined the Volcom Entertainment label, then re-releasing Volume 1 in late 1999. Volcom then changed CKYs name on the front of complaints that the name was too graphic so it was changed to Camp CKY.In late 2000 on the Warped Tour, Ryan Bruni walked out just before CKYs performance after an argument between himself and the band, therefore CKY and Bruni parting ways for the better. Shortly after that a new live bassist took his place on the CKY roster, Vern Zaborowski from Wet Slit.CKY were unhappy with the Camp CKY name so it oddly enough became CKY Camp, then a while after they moved over to Island Records in 2001 then changing their name to CKY. They then re-released a remastered Volume 1 on their new record label and new name which would stay in place to the current day.In 1999 CKY released Volume 2, not a so called album of sort, but a mix of prank calls and songs from the CKY videos and some various tracks. Then in September 2002 after being delayed due to the magnificence of Island Records, the follow up from volume 1, Infiltrate.Destroy.Rebuild(IDR) was released. Then in 2004 along came a Video album which CKY made videos for all the tracks on the Infiltrate.Destroy.Rebuild album. In late 2002 CKY landed the intensely sought-after opening slot on Guns N' Roses' national tour, handpicked by Axl Rose himself, then shortly after another legendary band came knocking, Metallica as CKY were personally invited by James Hetfield to play with Metallica. In late 2004 the live bassist Vern Zaborowski and CKY split ways due to personal and performance reasons, and too date they are still searching for a replacement, but as they have been recording a new album since before this incident, and the fact that Chad does the Bass on the albums then there is no rush. Then on June 28th 2005 the 3rd album from CKY An Answer Can be Found was released, then following from that in August 2005 CKY named their new Bass player in former All that Remains bassist, Matt Deis.....Home | Browse | Search | Invite | Film | Mail | Blog | Favorites | Forum | Groups | Events | Videos | Music | Comedy | Classifieds
